On going project, is a look at the "Victoria de Dios" commune also known as "La 13" located in the mangrove area in northern Esmeraldas, Ecuador. This commune was born as a result of invasions in these territories more than 40 years ago. Their daily struggle for their elementary Human Rights such as drinking water, decent housing, free health and equal opportunities has led them to organize and protect themselves among their members, to always remain alert since the State does not guarantee the welfare or security of the community. They have been those who have long protected themselves in these settlements seeking survival strategies based on their wisdom, their own culture, knowledge and ancestral traditions such as winter fishing, freshwater collection and the organization of their members, against violence and crime to which they are exposed. Now Victoria de Dios claims its history, the possibility of speaking from itself, all of which arms the deep meaning of resistance and resilience where life continueson the edge of the water building community to change the world, embodying the old but always present utopia popular of equality and unity.
